91 ViBo Viñedo Centenario 2013
The very balsamic nose of the 2013 Vibo Viñedo Centenario is captivating and showy. This blend of two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec is very different from the similar blends I tasted from Argentina. It’s produced from centenary vines; this is a serious red blend, juicy and floral, very fresh with fine tannins, good length and a velvety texture. 16,536 bottles produced.
90 ViBo Punta del Viento 2013 The 2013 Vibo Punta del Viento started off a little closed. It is a blend of 71% Garnacha, 16% Monastrell and 13% Syrah — a Mediterranean blend from the Punta del Viento vineyard. There are notes of hay and straw, esparto grass and other Mediterranean herbs over a core of floral and red berry aromas. The nose takes time to take off, but the palate shows more freshness with fine tannins and a spicy, peppery finish. Ideal with food. Very good value. 15,840 bottles produced.
