China´s Wine Celebrities Visit Viu Manent.

January 2018

Wines of Chile’s spectacular annual “Magical Mystery Tour” program consists of an unforgettable trip to a unique paradisiacal destination in Chile for wine critics, journalists, educators, and opinion leaders.

This year’s event brought celebrated members of China’s wine world to visit Easter Island along with winemakers and producers from a select group of Chilean wineries to participate in an entertaining program including formal guided tastings led by each winery.

In the days before the Magical Mystery Tour began, Viña Viu Manent received a visit from the prestigious delegation prior to its departure for Easter Island.

Viu Manent’s CEO, Producer & Owner José Miguel Viu, Export Director for Asia Federico Crempien, and Winemaker Nicolás Pérez received the guests and hosted the event. The visit began in the Visitors’ Center for an in-depth introduction to the history of the winery and continued with the traditional horse-drawn carriage tour of the century-old Malbec vineyards that produce the grapes for the icon VIU 1 on the way to the wine cellar.

Viu Manent winemaker Nicolás Pérez then guided the group in a tasting of six Premium wines including the outstanding icon Carmenere, the 2013 El Incidente.

Following the tasting, the group visited the Rayuela Restaurant’ to relax at the Oyster Bar with a glass of Secreto Sauvignon Blanc before ending the evening with a wine pairing dinner at chef Pilar Rodríguez’s Food & Wine Studio.
